Java 6 cannot currently be installed on macOS 10.15 Catalina because there is a newer version of Java installed on the system. Attempts to reinstall legacy Java libraries upon upgrade of the OS may result in errors restricting installation. Installing Aptana Studio 3 I can't open it because it says I need to instal Legacy Java SE Runtime 6. But I can't install that because Catalina has a higher version of Java that is already installed. This should work to enable adding legacy Java onto the Catalina Mac OS device. The script made no difference for me on Mojave 10.14.6.

1. Under Catalina the applications no longer launch and I get a screen telling me that I need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime, which, of course, is already installed. However if I remove the jar file (here Motivator.jar) from the app package and double-click it on the desktop (right-clicking to by-pass Gatekeeper) it runs fine.
2. I too need Java SE 6 runtime in order to be able to run an application for my weather station data - there is no prospect of it ever being updated. I have run through the procedure to remove Java (twice) using Terminal to enter the syntax offered by the Java website. The Java icon has gone from the Systems Preferences tab.
