Here's a great sounding Baldwin Ode from the mid seventies. The Serial number on the label is: 11-75-02. These are great 'workhorse' banjos made in the USA. This banjo is walnut with an ebony fret board so it has plenty of 'cut' as is most associated with these banjos. This is a great banjo. Walnut, sturdy construction, plays like a dream and can’t argue with the tone.hardshell case included. There is a shim to make action lower but is unnecessary IMHO. Only selling to fund another purchase. Serial number is 2993-6(I think) SRSoundCloud file attached. Jul 20, 2009 The serial number is pressed on the inside rim - a little hard to read, but as best I can make it out, it reads: 3276 OSR. $1450 plus shipping. Serial numbers were at approximately #5xxx - when the Groton, Connecticut works were started in April, 1920. Gretsch stopped active production of Bacon and B&D banjos, around 1966-67 when Baldwin (Gretsch's parent company, at that time) bought the ODE Company. However, some Bacon/B&D stock was still seen on 1970 price lists.
